If it seems like you are always scurrying around to find the right way to mail something, you might be ready to resolve that issue.  Think of purchasing mailers and shipping boxes in assorted shapes and sizes to have on hand right in your own home. By doing that, you'll always be ready when it's time to put something in the mail. Fortunately, both mailers and shipping boxes are very affordable. Buying the shipping boxes flat and ready to assemble means that they will also be as easy to store as the mailers are.

Read on for some suggestions on what to purchase.

Consider the types of things you will be sending in mailers. For instance, if you enjoy sharing pictures of your family, buy small padded mailers that will keep the photographs safe. If you are sending a large photograph of something special, figure out what size you'll need. For instance, if the picture is 8"x10", you'll obviously need to buy a larger padded mailer so the photograph will fit.

Maybe you are the kind of person who loves to write very long letters to friends and relatives. If you aren't crazy about emailing the messages, maybe you use lined notebook paper or beautiful stationery for the letters you write. If you end up folding the letter and it's extremely thick, a regular envelope probably won't be the best way to mail it. A mailer slightly larger than a regular envelope will probably be perfect. Remember to add extra postage when you are ready to send the letter.

If you love to send thinking-of-you gifts, have padded mailers on hand for that, too. For instance, a delicate pair of earrings or other fragile items will travel very well when they have been bubbled-wrapped and then placed in a small padded mailer.

Shipping boxes will serve the same purpose. Maybe you enjoy sending homemade cookies to your grandchildren who live in another town. If you wrap each one individually and put a stack of the cookies in a tube shipping box, the cookies will probably arrive undamaged.

Think ahead of the things you'll be mailing for the Christmas holidays. As you make your purchases, wrap them and then place them in a shipping box that is the right size for the gift you are sending. Address the boxes, too.

Besides purchasing mailers and shipping boxes, buy things like tape and address labels to have on hand, too.
